IIMB Post Graduate Programme in Management

The two-year Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) is the flagship program of the Institute. It is designed to help students with the knowledge and skills that enable them to acquire, reach responsible Global positions in management.
The number of approved candidates for this program is limited to approximately 240th The program revolves around the principle that no world-class executives commodity, they are maintained and developed with care and personal attention in small work groups and teams, and in a practical, application-oriented user-friendly environment.
The program lays the foundation for conceptual and analytical thinking, and gives students an insight into the dynamics of macroeconomic parameters.
It prepares students to manage the business and the global scenario that is increasingly complex and dynamic can lead.
The program design is inspired by management practice rather than ivory tower science. The course material and design is based on current and emerging issues in management. The curriculum undergoes a complete transformation every three years. In addition, it is clearly adjusted each year to keep it current with the current economic conditions. IIMB has the distinction of offering the largest range of electives in the second year of the PGP.
The faculty members keep updated on the present realities of management due to their extensive involvement in research and consultancy. Further, the level of interaction is required in the program that the pool of experience among the students are effectively utilized.
Developing skills in leadership and teamwork is an important aspect of the program. Expects this practice in many of today's successful organizations. The interactive skills of effective communication, conflict management, negotiation and mobilizing individuals towards common goals are the essential components of effective management.
There is a strong emphasis on project work as part of regular courses at the institute. While working on projects, students need to interact with managers from the industry. A number of these projects are sponsored by organizations. On average, a student would study at the Institute of fifteen projects to live normally carried out involving industry interaction and support.
The Post Graduate Programme lasts six trimesters, spread over two years, with a summer project in two years.
The first-year students the basic concepts in marketing, finance, personnel management and human resources management, Quantitative Methods, Operations and Behavioral Sciences by the "Core Courses" exposed. These lay the foundation for all functional areas of management to develop problem solving skills.
In the second year, students specialize in functional areas of interest. It is stronger on the application of knowledge gained through projects, group exercises and case discussions. Guest lectures supplement regular work, while the core Business Policy and Strategy course integrates the learning from the first year of basic disciplines won. Students are encouraged to take to work and dissertation to do a project on 'Contemporary Concerns' under the guidance of faculty.
