Duration : 3 years (6 Semesters)
AIMS has started offering B.Com Programme from the academic 2007-08 to provide the students teaching in the areas of Commerce, Accounting, Banking and Business Law. This Programme highlights the concepts and the skills of Accountancy and Computer applications. The curriculum of B.Com includes evolving and dynamic finance and computer application concepts to Commerce. The department gives primary importance to constantly improving the method of teaching and evaluation. Besides lecture classes, the department conducts group discussions and seminars related to various aspects of commerce.
There is no entrance examination for admission into B.Com degree offered at AIMS. However, students have to fulfill the eligibility criteria set by Bangalore University and attend the personal interview at AIMS. They get selected based on the performance in these two aspects.
Eligibility
Pass in PUC or any other equivalent examination. Students with good communication skills are preferred.

Plan of the department for the next five years
- Classroom teaching : Along with the conventional method, chalk and the talk the other enhanced state of the art technological tools such as LCDs, OHPs are used for teaching B. Com students. The case study method is used to bring out the analytical skills of the students. Student presentations are encouraged in order to improve their confidence, negotiation and communication skills. Also this is supplemented with the periodical assignments.
- Holistic education : Holistic education is imparted to the students for all round development. Improving the analytical and communication skills of the students a given utmost priority.

- Guest Lectures : Subject experts are invited to enrich the knowledge of the students on the contemporary issues.
Student Training and Development
- Induction and Orientation : Students who join B.Com come from several academic backgrounds. Hence importance is given to train the students in basic accounting principles. Math classes are also held for science, commerce and arts students with an objective to bridge the gap in the learning process and to facilitate professional competency.
- Workshops and Seminars : Students are encouraged to participate in intra, inter collegiate seminars frequently.
- Mentoring : Each faculty has been assigned a set of students for mentoring, in order to provide counseling and guidance.
